In 2001, at age forty-seven, Thomas Norman DeWolf was astounded to discover that he was related to the most successful slave-trading family in United States history, responsible for transporting at least 10,000 Africans to the Americas.
Inheriting the Trade is DeWolf’s memoir of his experiences during the making of a documentary film, Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, in which he and nine other family members journey into their slave-trading heritage.

That sounds like an exciting journey into history. I would be very interested in it.

History is a powerful tool for communication, discourse and reconciliation. The topic of this book could open the door to all three of those options. I look forward to the topic from a point of view of all of these ideas in mind.
The title of this book jumped off the page and hit me square in my attention.I can't wait to hear it.A friend is currently completing a documentary about East St. Louis. Learning of it's past,I became interested in the legacy many of us have regarding unfair treatment of other races.I've agreed to assist her in using the film for educational purposes. This book appears to come from the same family.
I've read about Tom DeWolfe's journey and it sounds fascinating. I might have to get my CD player in the car fixed for this one! Jane Kirkpatrick
I'd like to read–or listen to–this book!
